This summer, the striking £2.05M sports hall at Chingford Foundation School was officially opened bringing the building programme for the sports facilities to a conclusion. The four-court hall complements the recently completed changing block and provides the pupils and community with facilities for badminton, volleyball, netball and basketball.
The site for the new hall commands a prominent elevated location, which set ATP the task of providing a building form that would be instantly recognisable while being sensitive to the adjacent residential surroundings. The roof profile challenged the traditional ‘windowless box’ form to give the School a facility to encourage sporting prowess.
